'New Poets' here: Careful! ! ! PH does not (clearly) warn that certain words and symbols used in a comment will causes PH to erase the comments before it can be seen by others. DON'T dare use a 'dollar sign'! ! ! I usually COPY my comment before hitting 'Submit'.

Without the Poet's Notes, this poem's meaning might elude some (many?) readers. Did I say 'Welcome to PoemHunter'?

Though I find the following line at least EXAGGERATED in its factuality (ok, I made up that word) , I DO LIKE THE LINE: '

Re your use of 'dumb', I usually think of 'dumb' as meaning 'stupid' or 'ignorant' though 'dumb' also means 'deaf'.

I blame part of my not-so-great hearing on 'narrow ear canals'; I have my wife dredge them every few months.

Thanks for the Poet's Notes. I like (esp.) : 'sense or censorship'. I think I'd opt to give up the realms of sound IF I could keep 'the realms of vision'.
