Dead Sleep Poem by Dorsey Baker

Dead Sleep

distrusting the
medicine man your
black being fragile
and forsaking itself
afraid to permit
sacred fluids
enter the veins
of your existence
push away with
a feel of frozen fear
timid you stay
in a cage of ignorance
afraid to get out
and enjoy your freedom
fear is a big beast
you become it's victim
and still remain
until the morning arrive
you awake from the dead sleep

Beautiful, and brilliantly done. So very good.
