Dead Man At The Bottom Of An Ocean Poem by Hunter Hatley

Dead Man At The Bottom Of An Ocean

Loving us is like breathing in the ocean
Waves crashing on a soul that's broken

Stick our neck out, you know you need the air
But we stay underwater echoes of our past blare

Underwater caves and trenches
Sea monsters pretend we're flinching

To feel something we're faking epiphanies
We feel so fake, these ocean waves yes keep sending these

I'll act like we hate them until we're submerged again
Submerged in what? We could not begin

Not that we know too little but we love too much
Obsessing over it all, we love to hate a bunch

We hate myself for not loving myself, we think it's funny
Because others hate themselves just as much as they love me

We think these dips of love and hate will only fade
Depends on the causes and who I make

Because myself and my love are only symptoms
Of evil chains, and "there he is why don't I tempt him"

And he put the whole ocean on me for another night
Suffocate again my only savior is the light

But you can't lend a hand to a dead man
But you can't lend a hand to a dead man
