I referred to the Triumph of Self in Part Three, which I think is a true assessment of what this four-part poem deals with. But Part Four finds you in a wistful frame of mind as if you are questioning, even doubting the success that I just celebrated with you in Part Three. That's OK. Instead of writing a Part Four that brings closure, you are keeping
the poem open-ended. But the poem you wrote does have a mythic pattern inside of it. That's why English majors in the 1960s, including myself, read Joseph Campbell's THE HERO WITH A THOUSAND FACES. That book illustrates the monomyth (James Joyce's term Campbell borrowed) of the hero that is embedded in so many modern works of literature. I can see it clearly in this poem. But I can also see this is YOUR poem and you have shaped it in a very personal, unique way that says LEAH'S in every line.
