So fun! Yes, it is easy to lead the mind astray at meetings where it often seems people are simply pontificating rather than getting actual work done. I can relate to this writing, though my musings are a bit different from yours. You have such a fun sense of humor!
Yes, there's a wide field of joyful speculations to block out the tedium. Maybe, Pam, you could write us a poem about yours. No doubt it would match your usual brilliant standards. Maybe I was just trying to get to the bottom of the matter on that occasion! I gather from other colleagues that forthcoming holidays was a popular daydream. I think George Clooney scored pretty well in some quarters too!
This is so very interesting.....! ! At a serious business meeting, most of the people travel to worlds of their own while the speaker makes great proclamations and starts discussing grave issues! Some like you whisper a funny comment to the one sitting next.... to create some harmless giggles! Being a teacher, I can so well relate to this!
A Lady friend of my wife and I attended monthly Neighborhood Watch meetings and I'm afraid we were a couple of inveterate gigglers. She tried to make me giggle and vice versa. Some of the committee members were awfully pompous. On the other hand, I was on our County Age concern Committee and I must say that though the meetings were quite long I did pay attention. Maybe it was because we had experts from different disciplines as members. Probably because I was lucky enough to have very good teachers at School, I developed interests in a wide range of topics. Our Greek Master made even Greek irregular verbs vaguely interesting! But of course we all day dream now and again.
