Dating, Do You Feel My Blues? Poem by Mark Heathcote

Dating, Do You Feel My Blues?

Dating, do you feel my blues?
Sharing all my troubles
Where every bubble burst
And the days I shadowed a loved one in a hearse
Dating, 'Oh darling, ' it's a pleasure to meet you.

Dating, do you feel my blues?
In a buffed pair of pinching new tan brogue shoes
Sharing pleasantries
Looking you straight in the eye
Trying -not to show any shame or blame for who I am.

Darling, could you look any colder at me?
Am I a bothersome beer fly a bee now in your head?
Can we change the subject? Or beat it off to bed.
Tell me all about your mistakes; the dating scene
About where you've lived, who -with and been.

Dating, do you feel my blues?
It's the story of the Rock of Ages.
Reading in between the pages
Will -we ever meet again? What are the undulations?
Do I need an undertaker to list all my medications?

It is a process that can take ages to be successful.
But all I want to do is cry right now.
Or play footies under the table with you
Darling, all I'm asking is do you want to play too?
Because all I want to do is kick off these awful brogue shoes and read your thoughts.
