Darkness Within Poem by Jon M. Nelson

Darkness Within

As the ignorance and hatred collides,
It drives a wedge that further divides.
Too many casualties will be left in the path,
With only destruction and chaos after the wrath.

It's impossible to know where to take a stance,
As the evil pierces the hearts like a lance.
So many souls will forever be lost,
As lives are taken through this holocaust.

Will all this suffering ever come to an end?
Only if the darkness is willing to bend.
Can the lost souls ever be saved,
Or remain forever in unmarked graves?

This evil weight will drag the world down,
Unless humanity can turn it around.
There's a darkness and a light buried within,
It's just a matter of which one we let win.
