Dark Sunrise Poem by Donald R Wolff JR

Dark Sunrise

Nay! It shalt not be.
My greatest fear hath taken form.
The traveling lamp shines without light over Mine Heart.
I beckon thee great darkness, reap my soul in her stead.
Release thy grip that quivers my love.
Take thy tally, which I offer; Darkness, I beg of thee!

Why must the light fade from thine eyes, I love?
Falling on the pillow, it rains my heart.
Nay, say our parting cannot be hindered.
It is but a moment more I ask. One more breath, one more kiss.
Wake I say! This choking feeling is unbearable.

How will life go on when thither she lies without spirit?
My life hath parted with nearly a goodbye.
Wake I say, wake;
Wake!

Oh song bird singing outside yonder window.
Cheerful bird I beseech thee to silence thy gay spirit.
Can thou not see the sorrow morn hath brought to this house?
Leave, less thee bow thy head in mourning.
She lies thither, so still; Yet, so beautiful.

It is fitting to celebrate our life with a goblet of sweet nectar.
Such a wonderful life.
Forever shall I be with thee, Mine Heart.
Death has passed my lips.
Sleep shall soon befall within thy arms.
My heart, stills.

Can you hear the song bird my love?
