Dark Stream Poem by Sven Rhoads

Dark Stream

In the space between where I lose myself
I feel it melting away, all that personal hell
There's crimson stains on the frozen ground
With my final breath I see where I shall dwell
I battled long but nothing lasts forever
Soon they'll come for me to take me away
A moment of bliss before silent release
As I awaken after the dawn of my dismay

Here on the other side of the unknown
Burn the pyres high, carve my name in stone
I'll cross the dark stream so we can meet again
Reunited together my long lost friend

Of sun and moon how I've held you in my heart
Sweet constellations that my eyes now see
Bravest warriors immortalized their tales
Cast into the night forevermore to be
Brothers and sisters now greet my arrival
Offering horns by the fire they feed
My wounds all healed like they never occurred
As we all rejoice and get on our feet

But do not fear my little ones
It shall be long before you can follow
Face every foe with a burning heart
And never back down, stand your ground
Everyone must bleed in their life
Not every wound can be seen with the eye
I will forever be with you my child
Anything worth doing is a reason to fight
