Thank you for this remarkable poem. These are questions we should all ask especially in that last stanza, which I agree is particularly fine.

This is what I love about the book of Psalms. David cries out his questions to God above, and he is honored for it, not rebuked. I believe the word brilliant as Judith suggested is on target for these questions you ask. As much as I loved the whole work, I love the last stanza most of all. Beautifully rendered, Annette. :) S

I love the start of the poem and actually all that follows. But the start really made me think quite deeply. Dare we question the word of our father if it does not sit right in our mind? Such an important issue that many people even do not dare. And I am so sure the true meaning of these verses are not limited to our physical father. There are so many persons of authority and so few people who dare to question them. To even doubt the certain dogma in one's own religion takes sometimes a lot of courage, but I tend to agree so much with Voltaire when he wrote: Doubt may sit not comfortable, but certainty is often equal to madness. If I go on with elaborating on the (at least to me) useful thoughts I had upon reading this poem, my comments 'd be much too long. I think it is really an excellent write!
