A really beautiful poem. So well put together. Your words say it all. In one of your poems You say your looking for the perfect word, I think you might find your perfect word in This poem. Fantastic work.
very well written... it's sad how often we see clearly in retrospect... and how often we have to lose something or someone to know what we had... you portray the human condition well... and i would bet you're a great dad!
This is so beautiful smoky, I'm sure when you meet up with your dad he will put his arms around you and tell you he has always seen the good in you. Great write.
Absolutely beautiful Smoky, I guess we all have those feelings of not having done enough. That's the good son in you, always wanting to do more.
Smoky, I had to wipe the tears before I could write the comment. I love the depth of this one. Sincerely, Constance
My God this is still raw for me even after four years. Certain music plays and I rush to turn it off or the jukebox comes on with a certain tune. I instantly feel i need the bathroom, just to get away from it. Beautiful sentiments Smoky. Someone once said to me all the people you have acquainted in this life you'll meet on the other side. So if you go before me, expect a tap on the shoulder saying 'Smoky? Hi I'm Craig remember poemhunter? ...lol Your Dad knows how you feel Smoky...he'll be waiting.
Oh Smoky, this left me in tears. Such a moving and understood poem, as I am sure many of us can relate to, well after they are gone....and we are left to carry on, without them around anymore. I can only pray, there will come the day, when we are able to hold them once again. Excellent poem.
