Horrifying read Jerry. You tell it like it is. Interesting though how your personalising of Erik and Claus in stanza two carries so much more emotional weight than do the horrifying statistics in stanza three? Certainly, they do for me. This is uncompromising gutsy poetry. love, Allie xxxx
Hauntingly vivid and words so true. You have brought forth images for those of us who weren't around during this horrific time but could only learn about it from books. Your words are as good as pictures. We should all take a moment to be thankful for times past but never niave enough to think it couldn't happen again. Nice realistic poem, Jerry. Great work. Jez... I glad I read this one... we learn, some of us little by little... generation by generation... I walked by there 21 years ago... and my daughter, now 21 years later treads the soil where concrete mangles steel... thanks for opening up, the starkness... reminders should never hurt any of us... aroha, Deana xx
