'Da Allah', Let Love Lead. Poem by Raimi Babatunde

'Da Allah', Let Love Lead.

Take me to Birmin Kebbi, not the Kazungula quadripoint
let me drink fura from your mother's pot
and I will take you to Osun, the state of the living spring
that we may swim in Osun/Oshogbo river.

Teach me your sacred ancient ways,
Indoctrinate me into your clan of herdsmanship,
and let me show you the ways of our gods
that we may all livet right in one accord.

You are my brother, from another mother
from the same breast of mother Nigeria we suckled
Together, let us kick out evils from our clan
the evil of banditry, kidnappings, terrorisms
Remember, from the begining, it was not so.

You are my brother, United by diversity
separated by politics and divisive rhetorics
You are my blood, in whom I am well pleased
Let us stand against our oppressors, in love and unity
Because you are my brother, I'll protect you with my life.
My only appeal, 'Da Allah', let love lead.
