Well timed one. These Dr. Copy & Pastes will soon start professional services for the furtherance of this art. Ph.D theses would be like 1. Automating copy & paste for non computer savy people. 2. Algorithm to evaluate minimum mouse clicks required for Copying & Pasting a free language article into a technical one. 3. 4. ........................ ........................ They think we are fools & they are justify it saying that time is precious & we have wasted it.

can you imagine, a scholar coming with a manuscript of 3 chapters in three months...i keep telling my guys how we used to struggle through all those titles at the library...n now they pay some amount n a particular library sends all the relevant secondary sources-articles, interviews and the like-neatly xeroxed n pkd! simple exercise in copy n paste will get one a ph.d!

Yes, the students get their degrees with a lot less original work or research than in the past - but SOMEONE has to write the stuff they cut from - or we'll all disappear in a miasma of repetition and out-of-date plagiarism..... so there must be people who like you and me actually enjoy writing - even if they are not the same people who are getting their degrees so cunningly! (sorry that sounds a bit confused but at east it isn't cut or pasted! Thank you so much for coming to look at my Cautionary Tales, by the way! x Jan

Sandra, you write so much clarity on the negative of students today who always want a short cut and think that is the best way. It is all right cutting and pasting, but they should give a thought to what they are learning. Sadly not a lot. Top marks for this brilliant poem and thanks for sharing it with us my friend.
