Culture Of Life Poem by Olalekan Ololade Sobande

Culture Of Life

Culture of Life [poet's concerns]

They came in bulk
and took her away,
And I was sitting on the chair
clapping for the new development
No one could dissuade them,
not even my soothing words
No one to hear my own coin,
not even my good poem of love.
I thought she was forever mine,
forever mine till death,
I thought she was the bone from my ribs.
But the culture of life I seems not understand:
''nobody is interested in your failure''
''nobody will dance to your bad tune''.
She denied me her loyalty
her loyalty she once claimed to me.
They are all founder of broken home
They never wanted us to live in harmony.
I looked her in the eyes with dispair
all I could see was only pity,
I knew she wanted to spit
spit it out and apologise for my blame
but arrogance was against it.
I know I would have to be strong from now on.
Its never too early to call it quit
nor too late to be free from drama of life,
unhealed wound has been made,
a coffin of love has been nailed,
for me to carry till I fade.
