J, my advice is to stop writing right now. Give your ego a rest and start reading good contemporary poets. There are numerous anthologies you might enjoy. As you read, you'll be learning, not so much how to copy but what's possible, and your poetry will improve after some deep immersion in the works. Nothing in, nothing out, that's a truth you need to believe. JC
