I understand this poem as a relationship between old parents and their young sons and daughters. The wise and experienced censure them for their betterment but they take it otherwise. They don't know lightning and thunder is followed by the pleasant rains.

Tom, I like the format you picked for this poem- it's terse, taut, strained just like the children's nerves under the angry lightning's attack. Superb poem. 10+++++++++++++++++++++++
