Crushed Poem by Richard Wlodarski

Crushed

Rating: 5.0

Once when I was
Feeling the blues
I met a girl
With happy tunes

She sang a song or two
When I was feeling blue
A smile in her eyes
Swept away all the cries

All the world her stage
Her songs on front page
My heart broken in two
For joy of songs so true

One day no longer
On the street corner
Her heart so tender
Crushed by world's anger

Crushed is a poem that draws attention to the angst of a lover and a true artiste. When you sing it should not be a sound alone that attracts the periphery. It should be the mellifluous voice of the spirit. Most beautifully portrayed, Richard. I understood the emotion of the poem because i am an artiste too. Thank you for sharing. A top score for you Richard. Stay blessed.

Crushed. I wanted to hear that that girl was living that joyous life still. Sigh. But you are not writing a fable but a true life story and this ending is thus more believable if less welcome. If only we could step in front of the arrows and blows of the world... maybe pointing it out like this poem does will create self-awareness in more people.

Susan, she's still singing, but I've lost touch with her. I don't think that she'll ever stop singing. That's what keeps her alive. But she's lost the fire in her soul. I'm in total agreement with you on your last line. Thanks for your support and encouragement. Always greatly appreciated! ! !
