You present a realist vision of the world, which can be impersonal and uncaring about personal tragedies. I have often had similar thoughts about this. I have trained myself to be less sensitive (if possible) .
Michael, as poets we never want to lose our sensitivity, because that is an element that enables us to compose touching and lovely poems that stir souls and move people. But it's a delicate line to walk, in maintaining that balance between sensitivity, and developing a thick skin so as not to be overly offended by every little thing. " If possible" is spot-on, when it comes to poets. Good comment.
