Croydon 5 Poem by Antony Glaser

Croydon 5

the murder mile
like rape seed is spreading
the west meets to the south
the locality is in rigour mortis
toothless boarded shops
Where's our Virgin and Currys,
bleeding lilies laying in black bins
The raven follows its course
amongst the loitered parked front once gardens
Preachers amongst the feral pigeons
and the marijuana rust seems orderless
don't go out in the night
the loonies are principled reprobate
