Darwin (known as Hank by his close friends) is always very gracious in granting credit even when not expected. As I recall the name for his crowning poem was more of a brainstorm thing then being unilaterally thought up by myself. Great poem. As concerns the crown, I thought from early on that Miss Philippines was the better choice and I was shocked when the crown was initially placed on the Colombian head. Needless to say that shock was quickly replaced by the then even bigger shock that occurred.
This hilarious. The most outrageous moment ever in the Miss Universe pageant: announcing the wrong winner! How could the host ever make such a mistake? And then when he tweeted about it later, he misspelled both Colombia and Phillipines. I am reminded of a time when Sharlene Wells of Utah was crowned Miss America in 1984 and her father, Robert E. Wells was in a Salt Lake City department store making a purchase with a credit card. The clerk looked at his identification and said 'Robert E. Wells. Are you Miss America's father? ' Mr. Wells, with some pride, reported that he was. The clerk looked again at his identification, than back at his weather-beaten face and said: 'She must have a beautiful mother.'
Kim, yes, it is hard to believe. My wife and I with our friends were watching and at that final moment I almost fell out of my chair. My wife was rooting for Miss Thailand. I began working on the poem that very night. Thank you for telling me the Sharlene Wells story, that is funny!
It is strange that Miss Colombia had such a short reign. How did Miss Philippines come to get the gold medal?
Michael, you can go to google seach and type in Miss Universe 2015. Wikipedia has the complete story. The presenter made a mistake with the whole world watching.
