Though our paths diverged long ago, I find myself returning to that crossroad of farewell.
The moment we parted ways, my heart began to swell.
I know I lost you, my grip wasn't firm enough to hold,
And in the depths of that realization, my emotions unfold.
I see now you sought someone strong and resolute,
A partner with emotional armor, not someone mute.
But I'm sorry, for I wasn't that pillar of strength,
My own battles left me vulnerable, at arm's length.
Today, I watched as you passed by, a stranger in the crowd,
The impulse to call your name silenced, I bowed.
I grasped that I wasn't the one you were searching for,
Just a broken shard hoping to mend, nothing more.
As I stepped away from that crossroad of farewell,
I glanced back, whispering thank you with tears in my eyes.
