In the stillness of the night when it rains
Haven't you listened to a funny chorus?
Cra…. Cra… Cra…. it goes on rough n' raucous
A ‘music' coming down to us through the air porous

Part - 2 under water in day light with bulging eyes and webbed feet. These slimy creatures are an interesting sightl. The last two lines regarding their sound viz. Sonorous though the music be, it has such a lively rhythm / And to this nightly serenade, our ears are ever agog...are much impressive. We mustn't do any harm to them. A gorgeous poem. Thank you a lot dear madam, I vote 10 from 10.

my favorite stanza, by far, so far: Children who are lost in fairy tales See in every frog a prince charming Who is cursed to wear a froggy guise Until at last redeemed by a princess disarming! ......... but, though the prince is released from froggy form, he must look pretty odd without arms to hold the princess who redeemed him! perhops i was a frog once; do prince charmings remember their former frog form? - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - some amphibians might take exception to your reference to slime! slippery? yes. slimy? hmmm? Frogs of the Earth, unite! Props up, here and there an angular face ..... i like angular face, but did you mean Props or Pops? maybe you had written ro so often your fingers got carried away? ? :) just asking, Valsa! Props is ok, if you wish it. :) thanks for sharing. bri :)

Belly like balloons, bulging eyes and aquatic contests... You bring a froggy pond world to life with your vivid descriptions. I really enjoyed this funny poem, thank you.

Frogs are seen in the Zoology texts and we have to search for them on the lands dry or watery. Man kills and eats them and the ecological disturbances prove to be otherwise vulnerable to their species.

Yes, frogs are really noisy in the nights. You can listen to their music better if you live close to river. In my local community here, the noise that they create can sometimes be collected for a whole album. ha! . Indeed they are wonderful children of nature. Beautiful work that brings the significance of frogs to our doorstep. Good job!

Great poem to bring the importance of frogs. Are in many ways man's beneficial friend - this line says it all. Also please read my poem Frog Our Friend when you have time. That poem did not get your comment, which I value. Thank you.

A beautiful poem and ever relevant which pertains to frogs the creature that were abundantly available in our paddy fields and the sounds at such unity was heard throughout the night in rainy seasons. Often while walking through the waysides of drains through the paddy field frogs jumped and often makes us fearful which was quite often experienced. Different colors of frogs were available and also different sizes. More than ten varieity of frogs are in Kerala it is known and each separates other with its color, size, and sound as well living systems. Most of them lives eating the flies and mosquitoes and its tongue in such peculiarity of creation is capable to catch the preys while they are flying near their mouth which cleverly catches with the tongue in its particular action and sudden and quick action always. In the meantime it is to be noted that about some years back frog catching and killing them by taking their legs and hands and then exporting for money was a common incident in Kerala using petromaxes in wasides or pedestrian paths along the paddy field and non objected since frogs were not considered in such importance. Slowly the value and importance came to notice and now totally banned the poachers. The terrible incident of destruction of frogs are by the application of pesticide in fields which is highly toxic to frog like creatures and their death a daily event. Now frogs are here and there but their numbers are not increased too much. A beautiful poem with such wonderful word power from the veteran poet and deserves such due recognition of the poem which is in high standard and observed the nature in such beautiful way.

Your descriptive poem reminds me of the story of Princess and the Frog we used to read in our primaries. Girls used to grow up dream to kiss a frog turning into the prince. Sad part is that frogs/toads population is dwindling fast due to deteriorating eco system. I always used to feel sad when frogs were dissected in practicals.....lovely poem and informative too.Rated 9

of course an indian night in rainy season invokes the romance in not humans but doubly so in these long tongued romeos seated on lotus leaves.....their serenades indeed assure us that life is still in harmony....
