Critics

they argue endless
if seventeen syllables
make a true haiku

it doesn't matter
form and structure give pleasure
to dreaming readers

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
been fighting, arguing, and mostly giving up on the haiku police who are adamant about frogs and seasons and 500 other rules that they break when they write their own since 1965.

I'd point out their hyposcrisy, which only angered them more, and I spoke of whitman and dickinson, which they were happy were poets 'who never existed - all the things I read by them were made up by poor poets in the 1950s who would never learn how to write.

I adored those poets from the 1950's as well as whitman and dickinson. I even adored some of the work by the haiku police. I just didn't like their nazi tendencies to denounce everyone except themselves.

I am so happy that twitter ended this crap by coming up with a new name for the form: micropoetry.
