so true ma'am...we are captive birds but as for as soul is concern, it would not be imprisoned....one day we would be free & soar from all the imprisonment, poem is nicely written & contents, diction & emotions you have put in it, all are too force full & contemplative...thumbs up
Man is born free, but is in fetters everywhere! ! We long for liberation from all that tie and pin us down to the earth preventing us from soaring higher! What use is there of the vast expanse of the sky for a bird with clipped wings? A powerful write! ! What mysteries still remain to be unveild! !
Sometimes we feel our soul is a prisoner. We want to soar but we have wings of wax. It reminds me of Iqbal's verse: Tere azaad bandon kii na yeh duniya na woh duniya Yahaan marne ki paabandi wahaan jeene ki paabandi
the whole of universe moves in an orderly cage, doesn't it? the body too is a cage, isn't it? who knows if the spirit/soul too moves within a cage? those who experience(d) the soul's movement will not reveal to us, will they? how many lives will it take for the likes of me to realize the truth?
I tell you the truth, we are in a cage, but for our own good. If people would have freedom they would kill all those who they do not like, or enslave them, or became a tyrant. You can see that how many people in this world would like to rule over everyone. That would happen. However, we have the built in law, how we think we get it. If we are negative and do not like anything, we get that into our life, but if we are content with what we have, appreciate Everybody and Everything, do our job happily, we find true happiness. And we must learn to rule over ourselves first then we do not need to rule over anyone. You are as free as you choose.
You gave us food and things to eat, but cut the feathers, bound the feet Amazing write, carefully watch the hands dear they hold freedom! A soul cannot be tied even if ropes are cutting the flesh wide.
So ardent and forceful. Mans dilemma and grappling with the forces of nature, time and tide..... Beautiful write, indeed it does all the justice to the title. Enjoyed reading, leaves one in turmoil and wonder, reflecting on the whys and wheres... Great!
Dear Shazia, thank you for your kind comment on my poem, Ryokan, I Bow to You. I have read many of your poems. They make me wish I could read Urdu. I find this one irresistible as it speaks on so many levels to the human struggle for freedom and for the particular struggle as well. Thank you.
a cry from the heart..may it be heard to make this world a better place!
Yes, Shahzia, the world is bondage - a prison of sort. But one day, our wings will be whole, and we shall soar. Another wonderul piece, my friend. And best wishes to you, too, for this Holiday Season.
I'm confused if I should indulge in profoundity of a crmson soil or whirl like dervish to the music of this flowing work
this grasped my core from start to finish... i write i found not only clever but beautiful
with full force, sharp and hard hitting....in the following lines....Our own Garden, The orchard of Heaven Is made our cage The perennial prison, for nothing but a fake reason; ========excellent write..
