This poem expresses what we have talked about a lot in our prose comments to each other: it deals with what I call our human interiority, but we both are fully committed to calling this interiority S-O-U-L. Your 2nd and 3rd stanzas highlight the benefits of your Interior Journey: Stanza 2 shows how you have become a complete human being via YOUR LIFE AS A POET. You call this entertaining yourself which some readers might see as an egoistic statement. I know it is not at all egoistic: it is an acknowledgement that the work of being a poet has been transformed into the delight of being a poet. But it's still hard work, as we well know! ! Stanza 3 concerns the altruistic element of poetry: your poems help people make sense of their lives, and then move on. And prosper, in the spiritual sense. You'll like this quotation by Chung-yuan Chang, a philosopher: ONLY WHEN THE POET HAS REACHED SERENITY CAN S/HE GIVE A MIRROR-LIKE REFLECTION OF ALL HUMAN EXPERIENCE. THE PARTICULAR (the poet's self, his/her personal life and niche in the world) BECOMES THEUNIVERSAL (the whole shebang) .
