Could We But Grasp Poem by Gary James Smith

Could We But Grasp

COULD WE BUT GRASP

Could we but grasp this glorious truth
On which this world is hung
We'd be forever in continual praise
Of the Father, the Spirit, the Son
Our triune God come down to man
Earth received its Highest treasure
And those who find Christ as their Saviour
Find wealth beyond all measure

Lord in Your love...in Your love
None lovelier than Thee
Would find such a way to show that love
Praise God for Calvary!
With outstretched arms...still, they beckon
Come O sinner...come!
Be embraced by the love of the Father
Through Jesus Christ God's Son

I thank You, Lord for forgiving
In Thy great loveliness
To wipe my 'slate of sin' fully clean
With Thy great faithfulness
For Thou art worthy to be praised
And praise to You I'll bring
For the giving of Your own dear Son
As sins blest offering!

Only ransomed souls as such
Could ever return your love
Who've been redeemed and sanctified
Through Jesus' precious blood
For love that knows no boundaries
Can save to the uttermost!
And seal us with a divine impartation
By way of the Holy Ghost...

And Holiness reveals Himself
As Jesus Christ the Lord
God becoming a human being
The written and living Word!
To humble Himself as a lowly man
Yet worthy of all praise
And whomsoever will repent and call upon that name
Will praise Him for the rest of their days! ! !

Blessed am I...I am so blessed
Blest to be so blest!
For nothing tops the knowing of
Our Father's righteousness
And in my Saviour Jesus Christ
My blessings all began
So very blessed to know my God
Who is Jesus? ...the Great I Am!

Hallelujah, what a Saviour!
