Corporate Stress Poem by Jim Boone

Corporate Stress

Can make your life a mess if you let it.
In the best of situations no one is immune
To the bugs known as uncertainty, a lack
Of communication, duck-the-buck, point
The finger and walk away.

The 'too many chiefs' meet their days away
While the 'Indians' who make things happen
[Or not] need a calming influence of blessed
Assurance and an occasional boot to the old
Butt-a-roo laced with ethics, character and
Inner, personal strength.

The workaholic needs to get a life, but is
Afraid all will end [for them] if they're not
There, or the work-place is the only place
Where they feel good and secure.

The Affirmative Action easy rider is out
There, late, off, just hanging out, challenging
Any attempt to make way for a real worker.

The self-starter believes in being a good
Worker because the rewards, are earning
The means to have and do what is important
To them as an individual with a full life.

The in-betweens stir things up because at
Best, that's what they do.

The young are motivated to move on, while
The aged are fearful that if this job goes,
So goes any hope of life securities.

We need a calming influence of blessed
Assurance and an occasional boot to the old
Butt-a-roo, laced with character and strength
From within as well as without and that
Assurance begins with me, and you.
