(Elderly in lock-down,2020)
No family or friends to visit
Grandchildren to kiss and hug
Remaining home
Afraid of the unseen epidemic.
Food ordered over the internet
Delivered by supermarkets
Sanity threatened by loneliness
Hours passing slowly, days slow ending.
Neighbours, good Samaritans
Knocking on door wearing face masks
Asking can they do anything to help
Getting groceries and medical prescriptions.
Watching TV, listening to radio, reading books
Mind in need of stimulation
Loneliness and depression overwhelming
Thousands daily falling victim to covid
Will the virus never be overcome?

The elderly were the ones who taught us so much and went without for us. They needed so little yet we need and want for material goods more than ever. Over the world the virus has been shocking to see. Lets hope a vaccine will arrive and bring life to us all again.
