Coronavirus Poem by Karen Megson Adams

Coronavirus

Rating: 5.0

An illness we new nowt about
The news was all on china
A flu like symptom miles away
we all assumed was minor

It spread to every country
The news was close to home
cases doubled daily
death tolls sadly rose

panic buying started
nothing left on shelves
selfish greedy bastards
thinking of themselves

Every shop was emptied
Every shelf left bare
what about the vulnerable
why did they not care

people have to stay at home
Time to cap the spread
worries hit an all time low
businesses now dead

Schools have ended
lockdown starts
An eerie feeling
Worlds apart

Streets are empty
Groups are parted
we finish those jobs
we forgot we started

Nurses working round the clock
Drivers out non stop
Friends and neighbours rally round
so no one is forgot

Sadness lingers everywhere
no one wants to grieve
so please just stay at home through this
to Let this Virus leave

Great poem so well written that so perfectly sums up today's realism of how fragile we truly are. And if I may call you Karen. Well done Karen! You tell it how it is and pull no punches. 'Nurses working round the clock'... 10++ and added to thinking poem treasure chest. Thank you Karen for writing and sharing your fine poem. Take care and the loved ones around you. I wish you well.
