Bill, I respect your faith very much, but it looks like you are doing the same thing that I do when I try to write on religious topics and that is to be restrained about the ideas and images presented.
True faith is supposed to give true freedom, and reat religious poets are tremendously free in what they express.
I try to answer the challenge of the Buddhists when they say that one should endeavor to think a perfect thought.
Now, mind you, I cant even fry a perfect omelet, much less think a perfect thought, but I don't think the Buddhists have the exclusive rights to discipline of thought. So I borrow a bit from their discipline if not their worldview.
Maybe I can't think a PERFECT thought, but I strive to have an ORIGINAL thought.
What I have learned is that making a truly original and artistic expression of a religious topic is EXTREMELY difficult to accomplish. A real warning sign that I have taken the wrong approach is if it turns out in somewhat of an arrogant 'I'm right and you are not as right as I am untill you get ahold of my wisdom from me.'
Just a few thoughts.
