I imagine this certainly could be the lament of someone waiting to be executed. Or a prisoner who would rather be dead than rotting in a cell. Very sad.

Beautiful poem. It is very sad but true also. what ever may be the reason for the death sentence, waiting each day for the day to be hanged is like dying each day. Once hanged, it take a few minutes. Very depressive wait for death due to unavailability of hangmen. Beautifully penned. Loved reading it.
