Consider Me Dead Poem by Stephen Olufemi Omolara

Consider Me Dead

Consider me dead—
When you speak ill of others just to shine,
Right then and there, count me out.

When other lives don't matter in your game,
When it's all about you and no one else,
Please—consider me dead.

When someone must fall for you to rise,
When only your story matters,
Kindly, consider me dead.

When skin tones and languages become your measure of worth,
When judgment is based on the surface,
Consider me dead.

When you laugh at another's pain,
Or grieve at another's joy,
Consider me dead.

If you can't live so others may live too,
Then truly—
Consider me dead.
