Congrats Poem by Jackie Hughes

Congrats

You expect me to listen but
You never listen to me
You want me to respect you
But you don't respect me
You say I have to prove myself responsible
But I gave up trying to ‘prove' to you a long time ago
Cause I can't prove anything to you
Cause you don't pay attention to that stuff
Just my mess ups
And I know you're doing this cause you love be
But this ain't love its tranny
Cause love would hold me
Love you listen
Love you understand that I just need someone to speak to
Not just to hide from
Love-
Love would realize that what you're doing aint working
So instead of pushing you should stop and just listen
Listen to my silence between defenses
Understand my loneness between my phrases
And realize the pain in my tone
See how my words are scared and brittle
Cause I know they are hollow to you
Cause you only see outside not into my inside
Where my pain dances with my misery
My hope is shoved in a closet
And the only light I see is college
Where I might get outa here
But not intact cause
Congrats you have beaten me down
I no longer care
You judge no matter what I do so I give up
I'm too tired now to fight on so what cha gonna do
I'm empty, my light is gone
I'm a shell of a person that once had passion
Love
But that's gone now in the closet
With my hope and happiness to collect dust
Congrats you win
Now my misery dances with my loneness
Behind my empty eyes
You don't see
You don't care
Congratulations
Congrats
