That terrible and ruthless conflagration of the Library of Alexandria has always concerned me, fire destroying the ancient knowledge of human kind put together for centuries. Unfortunately, shameful looting of Iraq's national museum in Bagdad comes to my mind when the invaluable historical treasures of the ancient Mesopotamia, Sumer and Babylon, were stolen right in front of the 'liberators' of the Iraqi nation. I give 10 to this great write, thanks for sharing

If only you could have been there to save all the wisdom for all of mankind, our world would be so much richer for the saving. Well written ten for the thought and ten for the writing. Bob

A great loss to human endeavour, and the wish for a bucket of water, , well in our efforts to save the humanity we should chip in whatever we can do, , , , , a historic event with a modern refernce, , my 10 for it

Firefighting is definitly a worthy cause and would be a worth the time and effort to go into, however you would need a good amount of courage to go with that! ! Thank you for sharing Phebe
