Once I was so scared,
I hugged my soul inside myself
And I was small.
I fitted in your arms so well,
And knew so very little,
That I almost fooled myself I knew it all.
Then, slowly, through the years I grew
And now I'm stifled here with you.
But there's no way you'll ever set me free.
I cannot spread my petals wide
And be the full blown rose I ought to be.
