I am not too sure if I have understood the poem well. 'The History the gods have denied, So that mortals Never know the Truth.' - Which truth are you referring to? The note seems just not enough, to explain this, as also: 'And from the beginning, Truth was quickly seized Guillotined and buried.' However, few would argue over the main theme of the poem, that life is complex, complicated. Being tormented by these complexities, the mind sometimes turns rebellious, forms a low opinion about life itself, as you said: 'We are such low creatures, So depraved! ' This poem seems to me, a departure from your usual thread of writings, like love, beauty, nature, music, art, poetry and small niceties overlooked by ordinary mortals.
Past memories! ! ! Muse of mankind on earth. Thanks for sharing this poem with us.
