Community Of Darkness
All sentient beings suffer pain, hunger, a loneliness--
we are all in this together—you, me, the starving roach,
the sick slow fly--even the diseased bright-eye black rat
lurking by the garbage in the corner!
All suffer as we—brain and nerve-endings reacting to pain.
The rabbit throughout his agony, borne in talons of the hawk,
recalls the warren, the missus, the young ones at home--
Tthe Vampire remembers the dark turret of his childhood--
the love in his mother's eyes as he stares into your dying face! .
