All the sadness and joy of being human,
Is to be found here in this jewelled moment:
Where we share sacred bread and wine and sun;
Where we acknowledge death's sighs and laments;
Where we awaken to the flesh formed Word.
And the angels linger like quiet birds
In this ancient, redeeming ritual.
All the clinging, dark ghosts of the ages
Are exorcised here; where the world changes;
Bathed in the light of the spiritual.
Dominic another clear, clean and so precise poem delivering a calming and hopeful message. Your poems are more than a joy to read to put the reader's mind at ease, so to speak. And that well chosen picture adds to the quality on offer.10++ and added to my poems of utter peace. Thank you for writing and sharing your tapestry of tranquillity.
Thanks Shaun. I'm really pleased with this one. I like to write religious themed poetry. Indeed, I'm now a regular contributor to the Northern Cross magazine which serves the diocese of the North East.

Thank you for this very profound and theological poem. I always found Holy Communion a very challenging topic in church. It contains anything of the sadness and joy of being human, as you say. Your poem makes communion to a very clear and life-affirming issue, I think.
