Coming Of Age Poem by Ray Hansell

Coming Of Age

When I think of you
I always remember
The first time we kissed
How it felt so very tender

I didn't know what love was
But I got this special feeling
You made my heart
Go rocking and a reeling

It was the first summer
Of my teenage years
So many things I didn't know
My heart sometimes beat with fear

I was coming of age
But I didn't even know it
I would always try new things
Things, I would not admit

How those youthful years
Hold so many memories
But it seems the passage of time
Becomes our enemy

I learned so much back then
It laid the foundation
For the life I live today
To not have high expectations

Poignant embodiment of youthful times but it seems sad too.
