I'd tweak the poem a bit, and, though many are not familiar with Wood Ducks, I'm sure, I think using 'Wood' in the poem is cheating some readers out of a test of their knowledge (somewhat) . But I enjoyed the poem. bri : )

Despite there being other ducks whose males are 'colorful', having seen various duck species in USA, and having seen a wood duck in a tree and the males's 'crests', and having been startled by Wood Ducks ducks exploding off nearby pond waters
After Rob sent me the poem's title in a message, suggesting that I read the poem and try my luck solving it, I guessed Wood Duck....before coming to the poem's page. I stand by my answer. Ha! !
