Your last stanza describes Trump to a tee. Unlike the beetles (The Beatles) , his pesty nature is not capable of producing light! A poem that sheds a brilliant light!
Thank you so much Richard! And just to underscore how percetive you are, I thought that beetle I saw had 'politician brain' when he 'decided' to go after the dog.
It takes a great mind to perceive an incidental everyday occurrence and reframe it as an examination of the human condition. Of course for an insect its mindless ideocracy yet humans we call that hubris. We have shells but there shallow like our pride
