We take this leap of faith believing that the love we give will always be returned. We expose ourselves to the possibilities and dreams of a future only to learn that our own emotional investment was so much deeper, so much more than the person with a dead soul. The flame is extinguished with ashes black and cold. They say that it is better to have loved and lost than to never to have loved at all. The price paid is too great and I have never believed those words. Your writing illustrates just how deep it can be.......
I agree. While I do respect other viewpoints, I have always said it is better to have loved and lost than to never have loved at all was never anything but a coping mechanism for those in anguish. Seems better to never go there (to romantic love) if the end is predestined for misery.
The flame I ignited is extinguished The ash is cold and black. The sense of loss and the subsequent pain and frustration felt are poignantly presented through the use of powerful images!
Tremendous poem.....Beautifully narrated....loved it....thank you for sharing :)
The intensity of a betrayal cannot be as pronounced, painful and acrimonious as it is revealed in the poem. Thanks. I would like to quote the following lines: The flame I ignited is extinguished / The ash is cold and black / My soul is in mourning / Because your soul is dead
I have added this gem to my poem list!
Excellently expressed and wonderfully worded by gifted poet!
Superb! ! ! ! ! ! ! My pick from your poem Every breath sends out cold vapors Every sound echoes in the distance I shiver and cry for you My soul is in mourning Because your soul is dead..........Only poet can make that happen.
