Cold Poem by Matt Render

Cold

In the middle of winter
The insects die from the cold
And not much can live out here
But stolid winds
And frozen pavement
And I pray for this frost to remain
May we never thaw
Or hear the birds of spring
Or see the sun again
Let these roots stay cold and dead
Let these roots stay cold and dead
