Coal-Fired Heart Poem by michael Smajda

Coal-Fired Heart

Oh, you are like a lump of coal
So deeply rooted in my mind
That I must keep digging for the
One vein that will make you mine.

And if I ever do pick you out
From that darken, forsaken pit,
You will be warming my lonesome heart.
Till I do retrieve you, I will not quit.
