...clothes have no memories.. If they could only speak! Just imagine - a speaking bra, loud-speaking underwear, eh :) . Wonderful poem!

I just LOVE THIS! So surrealy real that you can state the unstated pain like a bad electic taste in the mouth. It is so sad and beautiful and tender. The refrain is simply wonderful and hurts so much everytime it comes back. A detail like 'the swell of your breast' evoking breathing and an ocean at the same time is just delicious! And I can't get it out of mind the double meaning of a bra 'unhooked and unhinged! ' makes me smile all the way into outright laughter. I love the way you are preared to dare to use loss and laughter in the same line and make them strantge bedfellows. The doubling up of high(h i g h) sigh(s i g H) which is lost on the page but fantastic in performance I really love. And that long winded way of saying she's not wearing panties... funny! And the clothes and the bra not remembering what you remember made me laugh and cry at the same time. Great poem in performance and in the voice. I love...it! Even my clothes love it! Even the clothes I never wore when I meet you remember it...'cos they can listen to my mind remembering you reading it. I know...I know...clothes have no memories but...I do. And this I really remember...so well I can say it off by heart even though I didn't set out to memorise it. One of my all time favourite love poems not just from you but from anyone. I always think of(my other favourite favourite!) CRAZY LONELINESS HIJACKS MEMORY OF A BEAUTIFUL GIRL as a companion piece to this even though I know they are many years apart!
