Clever Dogs Of Egypt Poem by Etienne Charilaou

Clever Dogs Of Egypt

Tom was the dog's name.
His claim to fame?
He'd take the tram
to visit his dam'
on the other side of town,
and return the same way,
almost every day.

In ancient Egypt
there was a mutt
who'd leave his hut,
jump in the chariot
of the overseer,
ride to the far end of the camp,
meet his mate;
stay till he was sate,
then find another chariot
to take him back.

There was another
who'd take the ferry
across the Nile
to the village
on the opposite bank.
He'd take the ferry back
when he was done.
