Santa- like beard but alone on Christmas eve
Above his cabin the slow swirling smoke of burning wood
He is alone but not lonely in his home
Pines sway and erase the horizons starry night

Utterly beautiful. The scene was captivating, the atmosphere compelling, the images perfection. This is a Christmas poem to the soul. 10+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Beautiful write on Christmas eve! Particularly liked that last part of Santa listening with his eyes. (10)

A wonderful piece of writing Edmund. We forget about the simple things in life that can bring so much peace of mind at this time of year, through all the hustle and bustle. I like the how he lights his cigar with a lousy book. He is alone but not lonely in his home. Wonderful visions of a simple yet extraordinary Christmas. Have a wonderful year ahead, always a fan of yours

There has never been such an optimistic view and a feeling of anticipation among the people here that I had never imagined our American world would ever experience again. True others do not share this viewpoint, far from it but I am speaking about the average person that works for a living and believes in the basic things that we hold dear as a nation. That being said how wonderful to hear from you Sarah. I hope that your New Year is all that you want it to be and more!

What a beautiful descriptive piece you've written about a certain character...hmmmm. :) This is a stripped down Christmas leaving us with the essentials of nature, animals we love, and great stories. Merry Christmas and a happy new year Edmund.

Yes that elusive tug between the commercial and the way we remember it as children. Through clear and magical eyes. Christmas that special blend wonder and spiritual depth. The man on the hill living an unfiltered life........there is a bit of that in all of us. A Merry Christmas to you too and of course a bountiful New Year as well.

A classic descriptive write. The imagery is simply enthralling. A lovely Christmas eve, peaceful cabin of Santa, the beauty of Nature....all combine to create a perfect atmosphere. The reader feels a sense of quietude n calmness.10

This cabin dweller stripped of the commercialism and all of the trappings of festivities run amok. He proves that the Christmas spirit starts and ends with appreciation for those magic things. Something as simple as a familiar old chair to something as grand as a Christmas sunrise are equal to him in enjoyment. He has balance and is both one with the world around him and yet wonderfully unique and original. Hello from America Nosheen.
