CHRISTMAS 2020
With joy we all treasure the miracle of birth
And celebrate the arrival of a new life on earth.
But long ago a son was born
As he arrived on that first Christmas morn.
Since then through many years we've learned
By his teaching he has our adoration earned.
A child who did become a man,
Who wrought change across the wide world's span.
His birth, celebrated with gifts and homage we are told,
Myrrh and frankincense and gold.
And in return he healed the sick and those of troubled mind.
In purity and love he taught the world how to be kind.
Again, we gather at this Christmas season
To celebrate his birth and offer gifts forgetting reason.
Tokens of love and charity, perchance we say,
And put aside the ending of the life born on that day.
