Choices Poem by Kristen James

You know what I've realized?
I love reading many books
all at once.
People always say that's weird,
and they can't do that.
I do it
because I love having
many different worlds
that are just waiting
for me.
I can choose which one will suit me
at any moment.
I don't have to suffer through
a happy story when
I'm sad with my mundane existence.
Or a story about
the end of the world
when I'm at the peak of my life.
This is one of the few times in life
that I can make a decision that is
all for me
and no one else.
